We started Aurora because we want to play our part in redesigning the world to make space for women and girls with big dreams.
You pay a fraction for proper specialty coffee that you can brew without any equipment and zero clean-up, wherever you are, in under 30 seconds. We ensure this directly fuels one woman’s journey to self-sufficiency (think an application fee, career counselling, business equipment), and take you along on the journey.
We think we’ve been complacent with 50% of our population living in a claustrophobic microcosm of possibility for far too long. Every cup you brew, you show someone not only that they can shatter the glass ceiling, but that they can reach it in the first place. Giving them both the ladder and the hammer they need (if you’ll indulge the mixed metaphor).
The Why & Wherefore
I'm Nidhi, former barista, law graduate, now baby banker. I'm using everything I've learnt so far (in my very long life of 23-ish years) to get this labour of love out to you; it's the sort of enterprise I'd look to give my custom to (promise, I'm not self-involved).
I'm guilty of buying overpriced coffee as a coping mechanism. Makes me rather vocally aware of my privilege.
As an Indian woman, I've also seen how insulated money makes me. I am able to have dreams, problems, questions, anger that a woman from a different tax bracket would not even begin to perceive. The chasm between our realms of the possible is what I hope to fix with this.
Not through charity. Not a donation. A correction of consumption externalities we've all subconsciously contributed to for centuries, which drive the aspirations of half our population somewhere near the 7th circle of Hell. Try a cup on me, and let's fix this together.

Sushma is a designer by profession, running a workshop that has served her local community for the better part of 40 years. She's also a single woman in her later years, and arthritis has meant her agility is not quite what it used to be. She is now dependent on the kindness of strangers for her weekly food shop.
With your sachet (and the 250 others in this cohort), we were able to buy Sushma an automatic sewing machine, which lets her bring the skill more than the labour.
